Rear shock spring for sale (from my Stratos)
« on: June 30, 2004, 04:21:06 pm »
Up for grabs:

One MountainSpeed/Eibach rear coil spring from my Stratos Helix Pro shock. I switched to a lighter spring for my skinny body...

Specs:
400# spring (linear)
125mm spring length (4.92")
62mm "travel" (~2.44")
31.8mm inner diameter (1.25")
Color: deep royal blue (I like the color!)
Caveat: slightly heavier than standard Stratos spring
Condition: some scuffs and a couple of tiny paint chips, but overall it looks okay. (See pic in my gallery - although it doesn't really show the blems).

Bottom line:
$20 usd shipped. You send $20 to my paypal account, I'll send the spring to your door...

I'm running a helix expert on my rig, stock 500# spring.  My shock is 2" stroke.  Is there a way to get more travel out of these things?  Or is your spring capable of 2.44" and the shock only uses 2"?
I wouldnt mind a little extra travel if its possible.

BFG,

Not a good idea to mismatch the spring and stroke travel. They should ideally be within 2-3mm of each other (according to Stratos tech support). I recall that it's best to err on one side or the other, but I can't remember which. With the air assist, I'd assume that it's okay to have a spring that is slightly longer since the air would stop the travel "gently" when it's supposed. (As opposed to a short spring, which seems like it could "slam" together and possibly cause damage).

Bottom line, no, you can't actually extend the travel without changing to a longer shaft.
