i am looking into uprading from my magura brakes to disc. just wondering if anyone has done one and how much is involved. thanks [smiley=laughing.gif]

Not hard, checkout RDI in the links page or OP's gallery for rear disc adapters(you can make your own),if your using a vector 2 fork this can be tricky getting an adapter, contact OP again as he has info for making a suitable front adapter,
as for cost yes this can be expensive especially if you do not have disc ready hubs,
you can lookout for deals that have disc kits with wheels to help reduce costs.

Don't forget to figure the price of your current wheels/brakes into the total cost. I sold my Old wheels for $60, bought new disc compatible wheels for $90. Sold my old brakes (XT's) for nearly $30, etc... With my $15 homemade adaptor, the net cost to me was about $135 to upgrade to avid mechanical discs on my '98 5000.
You can still get a decent amount for your Magura's on eBay if they're in good shape.

thanks for the info, pic's show alot. are discs going to be a noticable difference from the magura's ? would it be worth all the hassle doing discs or should i just overhaul my magura's? sorry if this is a dumb question i am not the best at fabrications [smiley=diaper.gif] .

I've not tried the magura rim brakes but I believe that there very good, from what your saying and because of the cost and work involved, in your case I personally wouldn't bother with going to disc's,unless your really unhappy with the performance of you magura's,
just my opinion
