A friendly fellow on mtbr.com directed me here and I'm hoping for a cool solution. I have a late 90's GT LTS-5 (yes, yes, I know...not a Proflex/K2, but keep reading it gets interesting) that has an elastomer rear shock. Well, mine's busted, and I've looked nearly everywhere for a replacement...to no avail. Only through a post on mtbr's forum did I find out that certain Proflex models had elastomer or MCU stack shocks as well. He also went on to say that REI peddles these parts provided one can supply them with the correct part number.
The dimensions of my rear elastomer shock...
Diameter: 1 11/16"
Stack height: 3" (approximate, as my shock is misshapen due to years of wear and tear)
Take a look at it if you have time...

Is this similar or close to anything Proflex put on their bikes? If so, I'd love to know the model of the bike so I could give that to REI when I call them.
I humbly, anxiously, desperately await your help...love my GT and don't want to see it tossed aside because of a goofy piece of rubber!

The ODS shock had elastomers with an O/D of 1 9/16" (approx) and a stack height of 1 1/2"(approx),they also did a shorter one but I haven't got one to hand to measure,I can supply loads of part numbers but what is still available I can't say,you could try these from one of the last elastomer Proflex models (the 856)
to suit rider weight 140-180 pair of
13943-12-120/13943-2-100
to suit rider weight 160-200 pair of
13943-12-140/13943-2-120
though these recommendations are for a proflex and the weights may not be suitable for your GT,
Pretty sure you could adapt one or a pair to fit.
Simon.
