Title: switch from 80 mm to 100 mm fork?
Post by: irate1 on April 30, 2004, 04:20:40 pm
I love my Mega Air fork, but after 3 hard seasons and limited parts for it, it might be time for a change.  Will switching from 80 mm to 100 mm cause a drastic change in my geometry?  I'm riding an '01 Razorback Team and do mostly XC riding.  Any suggestions for a new fork?

The 100 mm fork may alter significantly your razorback geometry.  The front end will be higher, your steering may feel slower, your handling will feel clumsier on technical section. However you may be able to adapt. I would suggest an adjustable fork, 80 to 100.
On the other hand, razorbacks are for 80mm forks, if you want more travel, for more aggresive trails or for a cushier ride, you may need a longer travel bike as the k2's  lithium or an evo.

I agree with Pedro, but I think you will enjoy the extra travel on downhills, try to find a fork with external adjustment 80/100 , there are plenty out there, if you don't like the 100 just keep at 80 !
