Hi,
I have just come by a Fox Vanilla R air shock for my 98 Beast.
Has anybody used one?
What pressure would be right for a 160 pound rider? Do they have any problems?
Cheers,
Colin.

On an evo, which has a falling rate, the Float air shock should work ok. I am not sure if the beast is a falling rate or not. The problem with air shocks, especially the older floats, is that they "ramp up" near the end of their shaft stroke and don't allow you to take full advantage of the bike's total travel.
Newer air shocks, use a larger air volume, and thus, manufacturers claim, has a more linear "force vs shaft travel" performance.
I would only advice a cross country racer to get that shock.

Thanks Pedro.
I am only just getting into MTB's mainly because my 14 yr old son is keen. I shall be using the Pro Flex for XC befitting a 52 yr old so I guess the Vanilla R will be fine for me.
Regards,
Colin.
