Title: avid mech disc problem
Post by: numbnuts on March 19, 2004, 12:32:13 am
I did a high speed 10' jump a couple of Sundays ago but unfortunately my Evo and I were not on the same flight path and neither had left the ground intentionally. Luckily no major damage was done but i did have to readjust the front brake. It was working fine for a while but gradually the braking reduced and after stopping I realised that the inside pad is opening up after using the brake for a while. I can correct by using the 'speed dial' thingy to tighten up [turning clockwise] but eventually it will loosen up again so that on my last ride I had to readjust again after a long downhill. I haven't had a chance to inspect it really well, but should tomorrow. Has anyone had similar problems or have a idea how to sort this out ?

The inner piston is threaded and I couldn't imagine the threads stripping, but possible. If the caliper is tight I' d check your front hub and make sure everything is tight and in order.
