Title: Wanted: K2 oZm decal measurements
Post by: Carbon_Kiwi on March 10, 2003, 12:23:21 pm
hey guys,
are one of you oZ owners out there prepared to measure [and maybe take some close up pics] of the frame decals for me?
i am 'thinking' of making some for my 'soon to arrive' frame  :)
a buddy is a sign writer and will be able to produce stickers indistinguishable from the originals...

I can explain this one. :)

The x59 series was always the top of the line Proflex, but the year they released the 4500 / 5500, which were the carbon models, they retired that numbering scheme.

Well, some of us were happier with the old Proflex brand, so we interpolated what it would have been called had they kept the Proflex brand and numbering, then one of the members was so kind as to take some high rez photos of the logos on his 859, he sent them to me, I redrew them in Corel, shipped the line art over to Mike, and he had a bunch of the stickers printed up.  He resold them to members who wanted them at cost, so there are a fair number of them floating around.

I still have the original vector art, which you are welcome to have if you like - I can export to virtually any format you wish, or you can have the native Corel format.  Just let me know if you are interested.

ok here are the approximate measurements...

downtube decal...1.550 in. high..9.6 in. wide

top tube...1.4 in. high..6.4 in. wide

seat tube...1.5 in. high..2.8 in. wide

" highs"  are at the highest points and "widths" are at the widest points....

yes that is a ti spring, got it from Andy here on the forum. It matches the ti spokes. and the ti in my neck...hehe

I know a lot of people here on the forum dis bigtime on the noleen shocks. But I can say this... I dont race, I dont do any big drops ( only 4 feet once, but not on purpose, usually no more than 2 feet ).Just trail riding.  And that nr-2 hasn't give me any problems yet. 2 years with a way too light spring, bottoming out alot, finally got a heavier spring ( ti ).

and its still going. I' m not saying I will never replace it, but it just aint broke yet.

I saw that one from ebay a week or so back (the link was here on the forum.), and it looked like it had an awful lot of coils for being a ti spring.   hhhmmm....

speeking of ti spokes....I have been riding those cane creek wheels for almost 2 years now, crashed quite a bit, and I still don't own the spoke wrench for them !!! straight as an arrow....  and yes ..no disc brakes...a mortal sin !!! lucky if it rains twice a year here.. I still have one set of Proflex 959 decals left here... one person ordered and never came up with the goods... e-hem... so they are here and I seem to recall the price being $25 USD at the time, however with the dollar getting weaker and me being in sweden... I'll have to raise that price to $30 including postage to New Zealand if you want them.

Although now you have the art files you'll probably just get your own made up...

So if anyone wants the last set of 959 Decals... drop me a line.

Regards,

Mike.

Edited as I had hte IFO virus on my spellcheckre !

SK,

Are you going to get the 959 or Oz decals made?  If it's the Oz, I'd be interested in getting the artwork files from you, if possible, so that I could have my own made up here.

Thanks,

Forrest

Are those Pauls brakes or Billet?  And how do you like them?  Oh, is your handle in honor of Bamboo Harvester, the resgistered name of  the original Mr. Ed?

Actually, I cant lie,  those are 30 dollar cheapo brakes. I was going to get some Avid ti's but I am afraid to plunk down the cash right now as work is really slow and I am afraid of getting laid off..

..Plus we have 4 kids and as much as I whine, the wife says the kids come first....

I would also like to replace the fork as well. 2 years now and I am still building the bike...

My name is from Mr. Ed (like the horse), cuz my name is Ed. We dont have a horse either, but we do have a pet goat, and her name aint Ed, its Aurora.   [smiley=laughing.gif][smiley=laughing.gif]

Ok, I uploaded the AI file for the 959 stickers, so it's now in the files section for evermore. 8)

Thanks for the report, I haven't seen any real differences between v brakes unless they're equipped with a booster or brace to decrease flex of stanchions or seatstay/swingarms neither of which are of much concern on an Easton swingarm or for that matter a modern Rockshox.  Glad to hear of the ti. spoked wheels being so durable-now if I can find the spare cash I'll spring for a proper truing of my Marwi spoked Nukeproof that have tended to wander since birth, speaking of which congrats on the kids!  Hope they all grow to enjoy the outdoors like we can on our bikes.
