Title: Carbon frame seat post insert drawing
Post by: Simon on January 21, 2004, 06:02:51 am
If anyone like me has had a seat post insert (sleeve) break on there carbon frame >:( and have been unable to get a replacement :(,I've posted in the files section a basic drawing I've done with all the relevant diamensions, so all you have to do, as I did, is take this to a local  precision engineering shop and have one made [smiley=nod.gif] very inexpensive, will update file drawing with one done using CAD when I get chance,Simon [smiley=nod.gif]

Many thanks Simon!  Do you think the torque put to the insert at the collar while the bike is held in a stand and rotated (accidentally) might cause insert failure?

Not on mine, its never been held in a stand using the seat post, mine broke purely through my own fault :(,I'm to embarassed to say how :P,maybe another day, however spruceys did break whilst out riding so there is a weak point there, thats why I've posted the drawing just incase others experiance the same fault,I re stuck mine back in with loctite 648,its a relatively simple job.Simon
