Title: Mega Air ??
Post by: Scott on January 17, 2004, 11:55:55 am
I'm looking at buying one but wonder if they are too "non compliant" on the small stuff for a 135 lb. rider.  I want to better match my Oz's rear travel and though I've been very happy with the Look/Fournales my 45 y/o back needs added care for the upcoming season.  The forks on eBay are grease port equipped but have a claimed 3.15 travel.  Didn't they go to 100mm on the improved '01 forks?  If so how difficult a conversion is the added travel mod?
Thanks for any advice the board can offer!

yeah they did go to the VTO in '01, but you can email or call ediscount to make sure.

it is an easy change to go from 80 to 100mm, but you do need to pull the sliders off and remove spacers and there are a couple of tricks to make it easy. if you get one i can email or post the instructions for you.

it is not as good on washboard as the x~link, but a good, stiff, light air fork nonetheless and the price is right.

i have rebuilt mine once [smiley=yawn.gif], the grease ports have vanished  :o(use duct tape), but it's holding air and still very functional...the newer stuff is better, but these are very good.

the Oz needs four inches up front IMHO to balance the rear. five up front is really pushing too much 'cuz of the XC geometry head tube.

i know i mentioned this but the fork is damn light and stiff...

get it..if they come with VTO.

Thanks Carbon.  I'll try to get a straight answer from Ediscount about their forks & VTO.
