Post by: BigD on January 17, 2004, 10:15:30 am
I am building a 2001 razorback 3.0 frame up. my question is does anyone have any information on this frame. the local guys here in dallas tell me that I should scrap it and buy a new frame. any suggestions?
thanks Dave.

;) 8)tell those guys to educate themselves. the razor is a copy of the well reviewed turner stinger. k2 licensed the design from turner with only a few changes. for your area i would think it would be a great bike.
mtb action still calls the razorback one of their favorite xc bikes.
i have a '01 team razor and i love it. it's light, quick and fast.
if you build it right, you can have a 22-23 lb fs bike. i have large with discs and beefed up mavic 317 wheels and it only weighs a little over 25 lbs. and i didn't do much weight-weenie stuff. i weigh 215 and needed to balance weight and durability.

I am just finishing a 2001 Razorback 3 build and got help from bikendan and others from this forum. If you need any specific info about the component sizes please let me know. Unfortunately I have yet to actually RIDE one of these... Still lots of snow on the ground here and about -15 C...  :o

See the Gallery photos under airman... :)

Cheers

Don't worry about anything. If  you really nead anything for the frame I'm sure you wil be able to locate it on this forum.
besides That is a kick ass frame. You'll be able to make a really light FS bike.

I have a spanking new '03 frame(broke my '01) that's a Way Big with disc brakes and it's under 27# with a Marzocchi on the front.  It's a great XC bike.  If you're a smaller guy(and I'm not), you could easily get it to less than 25 with V-brakes and a Sid or Skareb(of course, I wouldn't ride one of those noodly little things, being 6'6" and 210).  Have fun [smiley=laughing.gif]
