Title: 857 rear shock replacement question
Post by: Mick Reynolds on December 23, 2003, 08:28:10 am
What's the best bet on replacing the rear shock on a Proflex 857?  I have a lead on a Stratos shock, but it has eyelets at both ends.  Can I convert it to the fixed cone end myself, or should I bag it and send my Noleen in for repair?  I think its the NR1 or 2.

Thanks,

Mick

Call them and see. You need a tail to fit to the strut, don't know if you can put one on after though

Risse is the same way..

they fit with a cone adapter

Risse or Stratos best aftermarket for that 857 frame

I would agree.  The Risse shock range all fit the 857 and you getb a great choice of weight vs functionality.  however, they do cost quite a bit.  A super light shock on an 857 frame makes for a seriously lightweight XC FS bike.

I just read in one of the newest posts that Bill Larson or something like that can get us the Risse Genesis for US$160.  Is that for real?  Is he someone at Risse, or...?  The listed price is $198, how does one go about getting a deal like that?

Thanks
