Guys,
Does anyone know how a Jupiter 5 compares to an Astro 5? I currently have a 855 WCD that has a elastomer rear end. I would prefer to replace that with an Astro 5 but they go for $200. Pricey...
If i could get fit a jupiter 5 (for less than $200) would this peform similarily to An Astro 5?
YES I KNOW ITS HEAVIER! But is the Jupiter 5 suited to a XC set up???
Any comments appreciated :) :)

You probably won't be able to fit the J5 to the strut mount on the 855. Not only from having to adapt from eye to strut mount, but also due to the J5 being pretty darn long, from i2i.
The J5 is more or less downhill specific and it weighs a ton and it's very difficult to replace springs on it. Plus it has far more shaft travel than anything that should be put on a 855 frame.
The Astro is exactly opposite of the J5, it's light with shorter travel and requires a good bit of tuning to make it feel good on that frame.
My feeling is that you're best off ignoring both Risse shocks and go with a Stratos Expert, or something similar, if possible.

You could always go with a Risse Genesis. It is lighter than the Astro-5 (about 50g) and you can get one off ebay for about $110-$120 USD. I am very happy with mine.

Okay I give in.......Thanks guys.
There was a cheap one on Ebay and thought that it may be worth my while to get and mod it to suit my 855.....
