hey guys, question for you all.
my rims are 24 mm wide.
I have been using 2.1 and 2.25 inch wide
tires. I recently acquired a 2.5 inch Weirwolf
tire and mounted on the front of the Oz.
It seems to work pretty well, but I honestly
have not ridden real hard on it.
Is this advisable? What is the limit on width
for this width rim?
thanks for the input.

I ran 2.4" WTB MotoRapators on 23mm Mavic 223 rims @ 32 psi for almost 6mo. w/ a problem. I asked around about the wide tire vs. narrow rim issue and couldn't get any definitive yes, no answers. I am now running the same WTB's w/ 31mm Sun Singletracks. The tread is spread out better offering a little better traction. I'd say if it is working all is good.

This link is discussing DH tires. The pros and cons of rim with issues still probably applies to XC type rims.

I have the same tire (the 2.5 weirwolf) and I am running it on a 24 mm rim a bontrager in the front on my animal. It works pretty well. You'll have to run a bit higher air pressure. The weirwolf works well in dusty dry conditions but I am disappointed in it's proformance in the mud and wet it clogs in sticky mud too much; kenda's work better. It is wide and cheap though.
