Title: Animal buildup
Post by: Dave Wilson on November 18, 2003, 04:03:15 am
I've been riding a large Proflex 5000 for a couple months.  Great bike, but a little small for me (I'm 6'4").  So I found a "way big" Animal frame on eBay, and did the buildup last weekend with all the pieces off the Proflex.  This is my third buildup, so it went pretty smoothly, but the first couple times were slower, and I could have used some kind of guide.  So this time I took pictures and did a writeup at http://www.davewilson.cc/Bike/FrameBuild.

And the bike rides great.  That little bit larger size makes it a lot more comfortable.

Hi Dave,
Where in Florida do you live and mountain bike? I enjoyed reading about the Jet Boat and Sea Doo projects on your website. I've owned several of both.

Hey Dave,
Your animal almost looks the same as my bike. We both used Deore parts and have a rear V with front disk. I used an Avid although, and I have a Marzocchi MXR Fork. I real like my bike handles well and is very strong. you can check out my gallery on this site.

One tip I have is a brake booster for the V-brake, it will increase the power of the brake and stiffness of the swingarm. Also, check how to lube the pivot from this website. Enjoy your bike.
