Ok, not really new but anyway....
I've recently (2 days ago.) had to return my 2001 Zed 2.0 (non gussetted down tube) for warranty repair as it has developed a crack on the downtube, just to the outside of the weld connecting the d.t. to the head tube. Anyhow, I was wondering does anyone know if this has been an ongoing problem for K2, and they fixed the problem by adding extra gussetts at this connection? I've seen this years Zed 2.0 and it has the gussetting in place. Might K2 be generous and go ahead and send me a gussetted frame instead of attempting to fix mine? And who might I have to beg to see if I can get that to occur.

Keep your chin up, chances are they'll give you a completely newer gusseted frame. ;D I had probelms with my old, no longert have, Mega Air fork and they replaced the whole fork rather than just replace the lowers. K2 customer service, for me, has always been top notch.

not to get your hopes up but if they no longer have in the warehouse a backup selection of the old frames (which they probably don't cause they all got discounted and sold many moons ago) they'll send you the newer version - warrantees are always subject to replacement with a newer version.
k2 is like auto body shops that replace parts instead of repairing. it's much quicker, easier and cheaper that way. if it's cracked, there's no way their going to strip it, weld it, refinish it etc. - it'll go in the dump bin, crushed and they'll pull something off the shelf. they are going to want to look at it first tho' then give you back something that won't do that again - plus they check in here on occasion to see what we're chatting about and they know that it's good to keep us with 'warm and fuzzies' about them -
and they do. (i don't think they'd want to hear from all of us at the same time as we look after our own)
i'd send them a note and reference your RA number and request a gussetted model.
keep us informed
