hey guys,
in regards to these disc adaptors - i have an official k2 disc adaptor for my oz and a hope mini attached to it. problems is - the mounting holes need to be in a slightly different place as the pad isn't using the full braking surface. is it possible to get the holes filled and new mounting holes drilled to fix this? i mean i know it would be - but will this work? just thinking it would be a hell of a lot simpler [and quicker] to do this instead of getting a whole new one machined.

Hi, pic please,what material is the adaptor made of ? if its aluminium (6000 or 7000 series)could be awkward but not impossible with a good welder,may need heat treatment after to regain material strength,do you mean the mounting holes to mount the adaptor to the dropout ? or the holes that the caliper uses to to be secured to the adaptor ? Simon

now...... i couild be WAY wrong, but i thought that k2 made adapters for only the aluminum swingarms and you will need a Hammerhead design or fabricate your own for the Oz ???

Might be easier to get one of these universal disc adapter. No drilling. Just align and bolt on.

Hi again just had a thought you've probably checked it anyway,but if the adaptor is fitted correctly to the dropout then every thing should line up so has the correct size rotor been supplied with that caliper,just a thought.Simon

jimbo - interesting gadget - but a bit of overkill for my application i think.
yes - the rotor and caliper are correct. it appears to be a k2 issue - not a hope one.

I don't know if this is an option, but you might find it far easier to get a larger rotor. For example, if you have a 160mm rotor, I believe Avid makes a 165. I'm sure there are lots of other sizes available...
Just a thought.
By the way, the little Oz Theater is a nice touch! 8)

I remembering reading somewhere that ISO changed in 2000.
"Even the IS standard changed in the year 2000. The distance of the disc mount face from the center of the hub changed which moved the disc towards the fork leg or rear stays. Pre 2000 calipers will not fit the post 2000 hubs. Be careful if you're buying used or old stock brakes from e-bay or bike shops."

I don't know if this is your problem. But it does seem like you are mixing matching pre-2000 ISO with 2000 ISO stuff. If you take a look at the hammer heads stuff it's all listed as ISO 2000.

how about a brief history of vending location and receipt of that adapter and how and who drilled the holes in the oz swingarm.

i don't recall that adapter - the one's i've seen were a tad bit different - but then my memory isn't what it used to be

You've got a bit of a problem there mate,personally I'd of fitted a hammerhead but if you took up this option now doubt the mounting holes in the dropout would line up so may have to drill and tap some more, as there isn't much material to work with on the dropout extra holes could seriously weaken it ,you could make your own adapter and use the existing holes in the dropout, probably your best bet as you will get it exactly how you want it,also be aware hope manufacture a weld on adapter and an alinement jig if you ever fancied going down that route,Simon. thanks for the replies guys. fyi: the holes drilled in the drop-outs [and the adaptor] were with the frame when i purchased it. i'm thinking something custom made may be the way to go - however i might investigate the Hope option also Simon. OP - email coming yr way buddy...

i m with jimbo..the caliper now is different to the caaliper mounting points then........for what its worth....surely any body who is familiar with aluminium work could weld girind and redrill......
