I am trying to find out info on this bike and am having no luck on the web. What is the story on Proflex? What about the 657? I have a chance to get one from a friend that has been hanging in his garage since he bought in 1997 and is virtually new except for -
Does anyone know what it might be worth?
657 pro series, full girvin, xt w/ stx cranks.
Many thanks, BB in Indy

::)it's the 3rd from the top proflex in 1997. the fork will not take discs. the rear will with a special adapter from rdi. '98 4000 models are selling for around $400-$500.
it's a great xc bike. but upgrading the shocks is an issue. you will have limited options.
proflex was the first bike company to truly commit to full-suspension. all their bikes were f/s. they were bought out by k2 in '96.
girvin was a co-founder and one of the greats in suspension design.
the bike's design is dated. a lot of people are converting their x57 into singlespeeds.

the 657 is actually the 855/756 but with a noleen rear shock and i think a crosslink fork.As bikendan said you are looking at a bike that was designed in 1994
the x55(1995) being the first production year and 1998 k2 3000 a slightly modded model.It is a xc/race
design with short suspension travel and a relatively light weight.
