Title: Periodic Howdy and Crosslink Decals?
Post by: DugB on January 09, 2018, 08:18:36 am
Hello all,

Just my periodic check-in and howdy to all! Still have my 3 Proflexes (as well as that trashed possible Djernis 855 frame) and Terry, don't worry, the 956LE is still well and as fully CNC pimped out as it has ever been :-) Hope all is well in 2018 with all the forum folks who helped fuel my Proflex interest years back :-)

OK, now to my question...I'm looking for Crosslink CS fork decals. I've checked a bunch of the decal sites but have come up short. Anyone know of a source, or have a set they'd be willing to part with? This would be for the carbon Crosslink that came on the 5500c.

Interesting story - I snagged a still-in-the-K2-box large 5500c frame a few years back...eBay seller listed it, I got the notification from my saves search, and bought it in under 1 minute while waiting for a stoplight. $500 for a completely brand new large frame and fork, and all the documentation that originally came with the frames.

What's interesting are the fork legs - the brake bosses weren't fully aligned when they were attached. The right boss is tilted inward a bit. They're all nice and secure, and these legs are brand new, but I like to run Maguras and the misalignment was causing an issue with setting up the brakes. I happened to have a decal-less and clearcoated set of spare legs which I used instead, but I'd love to find new decals for them.

Anyway, eager to hear your decal advice!

- Doug :-)

Doug,

I contacted a guy in England a while back that will make replicas. I believe he has already on file some proflex / K2 decals. I need to check my e-mails from back in 2016 when i get home and I will let you know.

I believe it's Gil at http://www.thecycleshed.co.uk/ (http://www.thecycleshed.co.uk/) (click on the rotating logo) , I remember e-mailing him at gil@thecycleshed.co.uk

Ah yes! That name sounds really familiar, and I think he might have sent me some other decals a while back, too! I'll reach out to him...would love to get some decals on the old Crosslink!

Thanks again,

- Doug :-)

Wow, Gil is definitely coming through. He sent me a proof of his existing Crosslink decals (for the ELT) and it sounds like he'll work up the "CS" decal I need, too. This is working out to be easier than I thought! Thanks for reminding me of his services!

Aaaaaaand Gil delivers the goods yet again! His CS Crosslink decals just showed in the mail and look great! I ordered some of his Girvin fork "flag" decals, too, to refresh the carbon Vector on my wife's bike (hopefully she doesn't notice that I traded the XTR M952 shifter on her bike with a similarly shaped LX one from the following year ;-)
