I've not posted much in the last year as a combination of work and the birth of my second child has taken up most of my time. I've still checked in most days but noticed there's not much posted of late. I just wondered if people are posting somewhere else or is this site just going through a quiet time? What's everyone up to?

Just thinking about this the other day. I believe that most of us with these bikes are a bit older than the more modern stuff crowd, thus we may not be riding as much for lots of reasons. I know that due to building a house and getting my youngest into college has kept me pretty much off the bike for last few years. I just bought a hybrid that has more friendly geometry to get back into riding. The last time I had the mtn. bike out I was all over the trail, my brother behind me had quite a show of me trying to miss all the stuff on the trail sides.

I'm still lurking on here!
I assume we all know about the Facebook PRO~FLEX group? https://www.facebook.com/groups/105707069586320/528958170594539/?notif_t=group_activity (https://www.facebook.com/groups/105707069586320/528958170594539/?notif_t=group_activity) That's the only other place I keep tabs on.
I took "release" (redundancy/retirement) from BT in February and so am happily spending a lot less time on the computer! But I check the new threads every few days.
I'm waiting for the deluge of offers of Small frames to build a couple of new bikes for the missus.
The Medium OzX turned out just a bit too high stand-over for her, especially when off-road.
We took it and the 4000se to Holmfirth, Yorkshire in September and did a few nice rides up there (strangely including a couple to pubs! <GRIN>)
So, in the absence of anything "nicer", I have a slightly scruffy small 900 frame to swap everything from the Oz onto.
Then, I want to complete my own OzM as my prime off-roader and maybe build a x57 up as a Road Tourer for a potential e2e of France in 2016................
The off-road gang I used to ride with disbanded in 2013 and so the regular impetus to get out and ride is not so good at the mo'.............
Just a Beer & Bikes ride planned for May..............
I Love this forum, no flaming, no petty arguments, helpful people and intelligent comments!
Keep PRO~FLEXing!

Good to know there are still a few of us here! Colin, well done for taking release. I've still got 20 years here!
I've just bought myself an early Christmas present, the 5000 you posted a link to the other week. It arrived last week and is in as new condition. I figured nos frames don't come up very often so grab it. The thread in the bottom bracket on my 4000 partially crossed when I had the BB replaced last so this will be a replacement if needed. I also found nos '57 swing arm so I might just build the team bike that I always wanted back in '97.
I just joined the Proflex group on Facebook as I wasn't a member of that.

I'm checking in every couple of days to see what's what, kinda like to stay in the background.
Found myself another little project which isn't a pro-flex :-[ to be used as a pub bike and for general fitness.

Ooo I've always liked those. We had a shop in Cardiff BITD that was a main dealer for Alpinestars. They looked so different from everything else in the shop. Very cool!

It was a toss up bitd over this or the PRO-FLEX, I ended up with a 552.
This came with what was a poor spray can paint job and the stickers for under £40.
Powder coat £40 and a lacquer £30 all in £110 looking new I thought was quite good.

It looks a top job and the black/sticker combo looks really classy. Looking forward to seeing it built up.

Pro-Flex bikes are discontinued. There's a finite supply of them to talk about, and that supply diminishes over time. It's inevitable that there will be less posting here as time goes on. The newest Pro-Flex is 17 years old now.

Yes ok but they stopped making BSA and TRIUMPH motorcycles and aircooled VW's a long time before Proflex stopped but those forums I'm a member of are buzzing with activity. I just wondered what people were up too?

Likewise, they haven't made a Fairlane in a long time but I drive mine and correspond in a club
with 3000+ other Fairlane owners.

unfortunately our group is much much smaller .I also belong to a car forum, but in the world of vw and ford also a much smaller group.Time and tide wait for no man,its natural that groups such as this will get smaller and smaller but i will post here for a long time yet!
-
Yes I think that's it. For all the members we have only a small amount post, so when life gets busy forum activity drops. A little discussion like this every now and again is a good thing as it reminds us all what a cool place this forum is! :)

I'm still here. Proflex 855 is in the cellar - gets the odd run out. Still riding a lot though all year round 8)
