Title: shout-out to any gurus regarding smart fork shok
Post by: Carbon_Angus on December 26, 2014, 03:07:42 pm
Someone gave me a 99 k2 4000 the one with Al swing-arm Nr-2 rear shock, sealed main bearings, Al cross-link w/ smart shock.

The smart fork shock is dead. Seals, leaking, nitro-charge gone, etc. Can't tell if the electronics work, but a battery does light up the power lite and damper light.

So this is not my bike, I donate my time and some $$$ to a non-profit. Bikes are given away or sold cheap. I'm afraid getting the two shocks in working order is more than what this bike would sell for ~ $200-250??? If you know the bike, the parts that are hung on it are pretty good for it's day, even today for that matter.

I part out bikes often to rebuild....but this is killing me...parting out a PRO~FLEX..I mean k2.

Any suggestions or sympathy appreciated.

Sympathy 'cuz I think parting it out is what will happen.

Why not try selling it as-is for a better price than you'd get via the non-profit, to someone who might be willing to put in the money that logic wouldn't support?  Cash in hand for the non-profit to buy parts for other projects...

I like that idea of selling it and donating the $$.  Write up a good advert for ebay or whatever you prefer and be sure to let the shoppers know that the cash is going to a non-profit.  Might bring in more money that way.

Thanks guys. I'm going to try and sell it. I'm thinking $250 on Craigslist and take $200. I live in Monterey County, CA
I'll snap a few pics today and post it in the BSWT thread.

Happy New Year.
