Title: Rear shock trade?
Post by: slowride on September 04, 2003, 06:15:41 am
Anyone out there interested in trading rear shocks with me? I have a NR-2 (never used) and a Stratos Helix Expert (good condition, although needs air every week) and I'd like to get a Fox Vanilla (either R or RC, preferably RC). This is for an EVO frame...

I  got a Van R from a guy who sells ........overstock...shocks. Brand new, about 80 us. If you are interested let me know and I will send you his email address.  He posts his shocks in ebay, you may find some there too. The Van R works very nice, bobs more than the noleen but you can control it with the rebound, or eventually adjust your pedalling stroke.

I am definately upgrading my crosslink to a fox or other ~4-5" fork (my seal is blown), but im also looking to do the rear. I have the stock nr-(2?) but I really would like a Fox, or even better, a 5th Element. They are supposed to be the best out there for Single Pivots like ours, but It seems the only one they make thats close to the stock is an 8.75" eye-2-eye with a 2.75" stroke (for the sc-bullit  i think) Does anyone see a problem with those specs? What are the specs on the Vanilla's you guys have been using and what kind of spacers are needed to make it work. Email me if its easier (ivank37@msn.com)

thanks!

the bullit uses an 8.5" 5th, run a lighter spring (375 or so) some extra sag, adjust up the pedaling platform and it works great with the 2.5" stroke.

and good 8.25 - 8.50" shock will work great
