A few of you know I don't ride too much but repair, fix and give away bikes for homeless. Every once in a while someone gives me some parts. I kinda freaked.....

Great parts! Someone is going to be very lucky as these look in great shape. I have the same on my 252. I still ride it after 22 years. Which I'm still riding after 22 years.
The one change I made to this setup was to install a sort of top-out bumper. I sliced one of the firm, red bumpers you have installed as the main bumper. I then installed this half bumper between the red cable guide and black "lever" portion of the stem.
Initially I was using this bike as a commuter and a weekend trail bike. The weekend trail use was a little to rough on the parts and I was noting the red cable guide was bending under the force.
