Title: Risse Astro 5 vs Fox Float R
Post by: Dennis on February 18, 2003, 12:07:35 am
does anyone know any  differences in ride quality and feel between these shocks as mounted on an Oz?
I have an Astro 5 ready to be  mounted, but since I have decided to go with a Fox fork,I was thinking of getting the Float R rear shock to match.
maybe the Risse is better, I hope so, since I already have it. The Risse has the damping adjustment (anybody know if it is rebound or compression?) while the Fox has rebound adjustment.
thanks for any input.

I think you would have to make some pretty serious modifications to get a Fox Float to fit the rear. I recall one person on this forum a long time ago had one, but I don't think he was a regular...

As for the damping adjustment on the Astro 5, although rebound and compression have separate circuits, the lever adjusts BOTH at the same time. Risse has an explanation of it somewhere on their website. It's basically a balance of the two. I can't remember what the actual ratio is.

Matno,
thanks for the info on the Risse. thats kind of what I was thinking was going on.
As for the Fox shock, I emailed Fox about it and they just replied saying the only K2 bike that they build a shock for is the Razorback.
I will stick with the Risse, its a cool shock and I already own it!!
have a good day, hope you're dug out, I am. We got a totall of just about 2 feet of the white stuff, how about you?
