Title: Proflex 854 Rear swing arm bush removal
Post by: Andy T on May 09, 2013, 06:09:11 am
Hi folks I wonder if anyone can advise?

I've managed to pick up an 854 for return to the hills, I've stripped it down as far as I can go without some advice :-[

Can anyone tell me how the swing arm bushes are removed, both those at the forward (frame end of the arm and those at the rear of the swing arm.

Thanks
Andy

Once the through axle bolt is out the bushes should pull out. Of theyre tight try putting the bolt back in a few millimetre and using it as leverage to pull the bushes out .

Use some wd40 around the bush and then replace the centre bolt a couple of turns and then (tap) with a hammer. The other side will now be more accessible so use a piece of wood or something that won't damage the bush to pop this one out. The rear ones aren't really supposed to be removed, you only need grease the bolt. If you're going to spray the frame then they will come out with a little wd40 and a persuasive device like a hammer and a small flat blade screwdriver with care mind you. ;)

Cheers folks,
all out and frame off to painters today, the rears were a pig to get out :-\

Managed to damage the outer face of one of the bushings, nothing that can't be sorted with a suitable washer however as the internal portion of the bush is ok.

Thanks again.
