Title: Seat post

Hi all just brought a new seat post for my 98 K2 4000  size 27.2 I have just tryed to install it and seems to me too tight the old seat post was a cheap ex post and the new one a Race face evolve not sure what to do does anyone know for sure I need a 27.2 Thanks Mick

If the old seatpost was undersized, it's possible the seatpost clamp crushed the top of the seat tube, and the inner diameter is now too narrow for a properly-sized seatpost.

That's what I am worried about I wonder if I could put tension using a screwdriver on the small slot which is covered by the clamp so the spec is 27.2 then?

Just go gently with a screw driver in the slot and you'll be fine. I had to do this only last month on a cram I bought and it worked just fine.

Guys did just that all fittted and ok now well pleased thanks so much more adjustability on the new post as well

Try to avoid bending the seat tube again, if you can help it. Any amount of bending weakens aluminum at least a little, unlike steel or titanium.
