Title: Oh boy oh boy oh boy!
Post by: DugB on March 21, 2012, 06:25:21 pm
Oh man I am so excited...on my way home from an event for my daughter's school this evening I checked new auctions on eBay and saw a like-new 5500 frame and fork with a super reasonable BIN and free shipping...and managed to snag it in time (I think the auction had only been live for a few minutes). I'll post some pictures when it comes in....oh boy oh boy oh boy!

Change out the fork (i gave up on the cross links some time back) and you'll be a happy man - well worth the investment.

i sold my new (never built) frame and fork sometime back and kept two others - one's on the wall and the other is my every day ride.  newer models and newer technology is not necessarily better - just different.

enjoy - - -

I've had a 4000 for a while now, and even did the sealed bearing conversion on the swingarm (which I may just move to this frame). The seller indicated that the frame is still in the original box, still in the original wrapping, never used and it's actually the size I need (L). I picked it up for $500 which seemed really fair given the free shipping. I am soooo pumped.

Still looking for a large 957 to round out my collection of 9-level bikes...hopefully Casey will come through on that :-)

Yay, the frame arrived today in its original K2 shipping box and it looks great. I'm going to build up this frame, so I did remove it from the protective packaging. Here are some photos:

Any pain points for 5500's I should know before I get too far into the build? It'll be a combination of old & new: post-2005 black Magura HS33's & black EvoII mounts, black Thomson seatpost & stem, carbon riser bar, Spinergy Xyclone race wheels in black, 2012 Sram X.0 black on black 2x10 drivetrain, black cables & hydraulic hose. I'll post pics when she's together (likely not for a while since I still need to find the cash for the drivetrain :-/  )

I am beyond envy.  Words cannot convey.  Really though congrats.  What a find.  Are you going to put a rear disc adapter on it?

Wow, you made out Doug!

Not many mint NOS frames batting around.

Oh man, I'd love to, but where to find one? Right now it's sporting a set of HS33's...
