Title: Spring availability for x-link forks ??
Post by: donevwil on February 09, 2012, 09:33:18 am
Hello, I originally posted this in the sell/buy thread which appears to get minimal traffic.

I recently picked up a '97 Girvin Elite fork to replace the leaky Marzocchi on my old Inglis hardtail and need a heavier spring to support my 230lbs. From the info on this site that would appear to be part number NB2-230, but even an NB2-225 would be an improvement to the current NB2-200.

Anyone know of a source for springs or does someone have a spare one ?

I appreciate any assistance you can provide. Thanks.

Evan

I take it that the 230# means spring weight. I am  not sure, but I think manitou or fox springs may fit.

Also j6noleen may have the springs you want.

The Spring Table in the Tech Archive lists the NB2-230 spring as having a spring rate of 250lb/in, whereas all others have a rate equal to the part number suffix. Don't know if that's a typo or not. I just need something greater than the 200 lb/in I currently have. I'll try to call Noleen on Monday, no answers today.

Fox springs appear to be close, but a bit larger diameter and free length. Guess I could try one if it comes to that.

Thanks for the info.

don't get too hung up on the spring weights.  I measured the Noleen springs once and none of them were the quoted spring rate!
