Title: '97 Girvin Chubby Disc Mounts
Post by: Skewer on July 28, 2003, 12:53:49 am

Can anyone relate personal experiences with the attachment of a disc brake to this fork? Does anything work out of the box, or is it a retrofit/adapter situation?

Thanks Kindly,

i made an adapter and i'll try to find a pic somewhere as the main pics are on my old computer.

very, very simple and i think our friends in the u.k. at r.d.i. may sell one over the counter and save you a lot of trial and error.

i put mine on the outside of the mounts and filed into the leg below the lower post to accomodate i.s. standards and move the lower section further forward.  as i recall, the rdi ers put theirs on the inside of the posts and the mods weren't necessary - i like mine on the outside then space over to the caliper.  there's not much room on the inside and one would have to shave a 1/4" plate to accomodate.

as i recall - the european model was for a 185 mm rotor so carving into the leg was not necessary - i had to do it 'cause i was using 160's
