Thanks to all of you for answering my stupid questions, my bike is complete. I installed my Manitou Black Elite 100/120, Fox RC 7 7/8" Rear shock, Avid Disks, Hammerhead, and Alex paired spoke disk wheels. I was really hesistant on replacing my old shocks and brakes, as I thought that I was only doing it for aesthetics, was I WRONG!!!!
I took it out for a fireroad climb/bomb session this afternoon and I can't believe the difference in handling!!! This bike is AWESOME now!!! I am so glad I didn't go down the road of trying to epoxy on a disc mount on my Carbon X-Link fork. The Manitou is the real deal. Great on the uphill session and incredible on bombing the run. I didn't feel any of the stutter bumps and big rocks. Like a magic carpet.
I was always jealous of my buddies Santa Cruz Heckler and its ride, but now I can say that I will never have any type of bike envy anymore. This bike is awesome now!!!!

5500C,
thanks for posting this message. Its going to make my decision to go for a slider fork much easier.
which Fox RC did you get? did you get the float or the coil spring one?
let me know. I need to choose between the Fox or the Risse which I have but never mounted.
thanks again
I also have Hammerhead and Avids ready to go. seems to be the hot setup.

I have the Vanilla (Coil) RC. I was thinking of possibly going with Air as I have a small case of "weight-weenie-itis" but decided on comfort and plushness over weight and stiction.
I have the dimensions for the bushings for the Fox that i have to post soon. If I forget remind me.
Get the sliders!!! They are awesome!!! I was going to go down the road of spending big $$$ for a Fox forx or something in the new category, but decided on a slightly used fork on Ebay and am really happy, both to my pocketbook and quality.

I just ordered my fox bushings for my new RC 7 7/8. I measured the bolt diameter 6mm and the width of the space where each end of the shock goes for my Oz(large). The want the full length from edge to edge. The top was 37 mm and the bottom on the swing are was 24mm. Fox was very helpful. I ordered a 38.6 and a 25.2. These two were the closest and you want to go a little bigger rather than smaller. My caliber is not the most accurate either. I will file/emery cloth'em down so they fit real snug. Cost plus shipping was $19.
As 5500C has said, the shock fits without any mods. I put it on with just the bolts and there is plenty of room. [smiley=nod.gif] [smiley=nod.gif] [smiley=nod.gif] [smiley=nod.gif] [smiley=nod.gif] [smiley=nod.gif]
