Title: Questions on rebuilding...but got different sized pieces??
Post by: Lovatt12 on August 29, 2011, 11:07:07 am

Hi,

I have just joined this forum and am looking for some advice on rebuilding my Proflex 856 world cup edition...

I have stripped the bike down completely and started to rebuild, but come across a problem with the headset today, I believe that steering tube is 1" but I cant seem to find anyone in my area that stocks an 1" headset.
I also think that I have a few parts missing from the head set assembly.

Also, the guy who sold me the guy included some orginal pieces, these included the orginal stem which I would like to fit, but cant understand how, as it is 1" 1.8 and the steering tube is only 1", He also included an FSA Conix head piece which I too would like to fit but cant understand how it does due to the different sizes...

If anyone could advise me on these both, I'd appreciate it...

I can include pictures if it helps..

Kevin

The headset should be correct. But the 1" linkage fork should come with reducers for the 1 1/8" headset. If it is complete, it would come with these reducers.

Welcome,
Terry

eBay has a few options. Search for "threadless headset 1 inch".

My Vector fork has a 1inch stem with round shims to fit in the standard 1 1/8 inch headset. Did you ever get it straightened out?
