Title: noleen nr2 shock
Post by: simonlovell99 on April 03, 2011, 01:13:24 am
Hi

I got a noleen nr2 rear shock on my 98 beast. I am looking to replace the spring (snapped the one on there!). The spring was 100mm in length. It has 50mm stroke and is 200mm long. Where can I find a replace spring, I have tried a rockshox 500lb 2.0 which is right, but that was 10mm too long.

Any help appreciated

Thanks

Cut the spring you have down by 10mm?

Try the NoleenJ6 website?

Scour Ebay & the forums for a spare spring?

I may have one, I'll take a look for it. Unfortunately I snapped the whole shock, so all I'm left with is the spring.

I'll take a look in my parts drawer tomorrow. I was meaning to put it on eBay at some point.

Kindest regards

I've found my black NR-2 spring, it came stock with my 'Way Big' K2 Proflex 3000. It's 100mm long and has a 45mm diameter. I have been keeping the spring and what's left of the shock as spares for a potential machine shop rebuild, but have yet to get round to to it.

I'll post the spring for a tenner (UK pounds) plus postage. If you think you'd use it I can throw the rest of the shock in the bag too. The unit sheared at the lower mount and the main/upper part of the unit is in good condition, with clean threads and everything else tact (except the damping pin that runs inside the shock - this bent during the incident).

The failure occured when the female thread of the lower mount (a separate aluminium piece) split. Annoyingly I only had it serviced a few months before disaster struck.

PM me if you're interested. I'm based in York, UK.

Here is a photograph of the spring and what's left of the shock:
