Title: Check out this Proflex 4000 rear disc adapter.
Post by: Thunderchild on April 22, 2010, 11:39:42 am
Anyone on the list own this one?

Looks like it is held on by a bolt sandwich and maybe a quick release assist.  Anyone see something I don't?

That's just a generic A2Z disc brake adaptor. That's not to say it isn't any good, but it's nothing fancy either. I think part of its design relies on butting against the back edge of the dropout; if given the choice, I'd much rather have something that bolts to the dropout, or else have one welded on. Dunno if you can weld onto a dropout embedded in a carbon swingarm, though.

Maybe shovelon can advise whether he could weld a disc brake mount onto that swingarm.  ;D

(crosses his fingers, because he currently owns three of the damn things)

Simon has done it, and says it held up fine. I would have tried it long ago but I am not a disk fan. I guess after fitup and tack, a series of short weld and cool could do it.
Then if the "drop out" drops out, then you could rebond it. :D :D :D

I'm a disc fan. ;) Things I'm not a fan of include, but are not limited to:

- Wearing out my rims
- Digging aluminum bits out of my brake pads
- Hellish brake squeal when riding in wet conditions
- Spending a half-hour aligning pads properly
- Boiled okra

 ;D

Okra..... yerggguk!  Breading okra transforms it from crap to craptacular.  Hardly an improvement IMO.

I'm impressed Colin, that someone across the pond would know about fried okra. A southern US "okie" type food. I happen to like fried okra. Also started to reassemble "Ol Mule" with the new swing arm I fabed. I have some pics but having trouble getting them down to size. Will post them when I can
