Dude selling a 857 w/crossflex on it, states:
Everything on it is titanium or XT, aluminum frame with carbon fiber swingarm. fantastic shape. Control Tech seatpost. Michilin Wildgripper tires
I wrote him and he said that the stock shocks with the external gas cyl failed right away. Noleen replaced them with a cartridge shock that has been bomb-proof. Sounds like the original owner. I haven't asked what year it was and the maintenance history. Any key questions that will reveal the condition of the bike?
$400 decent?
Thanks for any info folks, this bike model sure has an active user group, nice to see that. BTW, I'm 40 years old, 6'1'' and 200 lbs and currently riding a rigid bike but need to go full suspension as the riding is beating the crap out of me. Still hoping for that tight singletrack feel that this bike seems to have.
I see different set up's on the rear swingarm, here is the pic of this one:

Unless he has upgraded some parts, this bike did not have titanium parts when new. If the bike condition is as good as stated then it is worth $400. If it is not in super shape then come down on the price. The frame looks to be a size large so it should fit you, you may need to change the springs though. Welcome to the board. This is an fairly active world-wide board here. Lots of us still want to keep these oldies but goodies on the trails.

I agree with Willie. That bike was not speced with any ti.
The crankset looks to be a single ring job too. Not great for climbing.
But $400 is about right.

I noticed the crankset as well and its definately not the original XT one. Looks like a single to me to.
If you get a good one they are worth it.
Good luck
