Title: Melted Elastomer
Post by: antmav on July 13, 2009, 07:19:48 am
Hello,
Just spent a beautiful weekend on Cape Cod with my family and even snuck a few rides in.  My wife wanted to hit the Saturday morning yard sale circuit and reluctantly I went alone.  I think I may have hit the jackpot.  I found Proflex 854 (red) bike for sale for $50 USD.  XTR cranks, XT rear and front, Lx brakes.  The XTR cranks are actually marked "Prototype".  The yellow elastomers are melted all over the Girvin and rear swingarm.  hahahahaha  Must have been stored in hot garage.  Anyway, does anyone know what can be used to get this 'yellow gunk' off the bike and off my fingers??????

Thanks

I used a celulose thinners type spirit on my 856. From memmory it worked quite well although its a bit harsh on the hands.
