Hi all... been away from the board for quite some time... bought and built up a scale 20 early last year and the ww bug caught me so been on the ww forum more... anyway... two weeks back I had to retire my scale as I noticed a crack developing in/near the headtube... now i'm in the market for a new frame.
Just been on the proflexusa site and seen the 499... done a google search but cant find anoyone that sells them, looked on ebay, searched this forum... nothing... anyone know anything about them, are the available?
-
just found this... http://www.fabregues.es/es/ficha/625/proflex-usa-499.htm - woof!

Did you see the dineros they are asking for it? You could almost by a Korean car for that. :o

May I say "Ay Carumba"............though it's at least hopeful that it's not just the Proflex name shoved on run of the mill tat!
-
Yeah, HOPEFULLY the high price tag does mean good qaulity but... its a completely unrealistic price I feel... also, if you look at the prices of the 489 & 479... componentry aside it doesnt really stack up at all, there cant be all that much (weight) difference between the frames of the 499, 489 & 479 - the differences between each model primariliy comes down to the componentry.
I've emailed Proflex to see if just the frameset is available... but at this price its off my list... for that kind of money, which I would not spend on a pre-built bike anyway, i'd look elsewhere... hell... I could get a customer ti frame made, spec it up the way I want, come in at least a 1kg lighter and still have a good hunk of change left.

4500_rider: are you in the UK?
I'm also in the market for a new bike in Scotland - but I've been finding that the weakness of the UK pound against the Euro & Yen is making all bikes look 50%+ more expensive than they should be.
So, I'm going to hold on a bit and buy a new bike next year. Will get some new bits for my 08 orange 5 to keep me going into next year and scout around post season for a Proflex 890 or a 798.
I'll ask Proflex about frames and report back.

Rapiddescent... yep... i'm in the UK, down south in Hampshire... Winchester to be precise. I did email proflex myself as well but as yet have not heard anything back from them.

And I work in New Alresford
small world etc etc

MISSED OUT ON PROFLEX'S UK RELAUNCH AT SHERWOOD PINES CYCLES AT THE BACK END OF APRIL!!
DONT KNOW IF THESE GUY'S ARE GONNA BE SELLING THESE OR NOT...
-
I was at the Pines last week and they had some of the Proflexes there, but none of the real high end stuff.
-
yes, the proflexes are for sale in the UK and I'm in touch with eurobike. I did ask them for a test ride of all the bikes. If (when) I get a date, we'll meet up and test ride the bikes. I'll see if i can sort something.

If that could be at the Pines - I'd be there!!

count me in!

Bit of a grave dig here, but does anyone know on-line shops selling the new proflex?
I've tried emailing them to no avail and am actually quiet interested in the 790 frame. I've been looking to build up an All-Mountain bike and this seems to fit the bill, assuming I can lay my hands on one. And also depending on what their asking price actually is.
-
Check out ebay u.k this guy has stripped a brand new 17" 786 enduro frameset for £325...make him an offer it's been advertised for some time now!
Dont know about shipping tho???
Just checked.... shipping to oz would be £25.94
-
I've seen that one, but its actually the 790, 780, 770 series that I am interested in.
Other than that one frame on ebay, I've not been able to find them for sale anywhere.
-
Hi chaps,I`ve seen them, and spoke to the importers today at the earls court bike show, they looked really nice, a guy called Mattia Bertaso is the general import manager, and he says the should be available within a week or two. But also very expensive due to the week pound one reason they have`nt rushed to get a footing in the UK. Frame only options will be available too and the hard tails and road bikes look nice as well.
I`m emailing the guy in a couple of days to try and sort something out and will keep you all posted.
Cheers, Tel.

Some for sale here with 20% discount, but looks like no frames and UK delivery only.

Surely those Fox shocks will be swapped for some elastomers in time for production!
