Hello all,
While fine tuning my 856 the past few days, I've once again played the front derailleur game and lost. I now have just about every type of deraulleur made in my spare parts bin, and sadly and forced to run the original XT M738 front that was on the bike at first. Low clamp models wont work because of the frame part that houses the rear swingarm pivot. Most modern high clamp models wont work because of the lack of clearance between the derailleur cage and the swingarm pivot mount. I've tried the M750, M770 and M771 with no lock. Just wondering what you all run.
Thanks!

whatever it came with :)

XT m737 on my 855. The one it came with. Sometimes old tech is just fine.

do you have a monster big ring?
old XT has been the best, it's a btch to mount and adjust, old XTR maybe better

Hey all,
My big ring is a 46...I'm running a set of Cook Brothers RSR cranks, and just picked up a set of Race Face Racerings in 110/74 for them. A few of the newer XT front dérailleurs seem to be close, but some material would need to be shaved from the drive-side swingarm "knuckle". Turns out that my shifting issues were greatly helped by the ramps on the new chainrings, so reusing the old dérailleur wasn't an issue. It's just amazing how my trial-and-error failed on finding a replacement dérailleur. :-/
