Alright, so I work at a shop and some guy brought in an old Offroad Proflex 550. Got it really cheap, $25. It's not in the best of shape, but has potential. Its the gray/blue rear, far from mint condish. Anyway, would I do it a disservice to strip and paint custom colors? I dont know if there's any "ah, na man, keep it original" folks out there. I'm thinking white with sky blue rear/stem. Also, my guess is OEM decals are long gone?
Thanks!

some like the original patina, others go hotrod - do whatever takes your fancy ;) Post a pic when you've done it :D
If you really want decals I know someone who can do it - let me know.

Make it your way. Do a decent job though. And throw up a photo or two for us to admire.

As long as it is kept alive, all is fair game in my book.

I'd go for a respray.........but white main, silver swingarm/black rear and stem- the colours of the later 550s with the bell cranky thing for the swingarm mounted brake.
Looked cool- had one, loved it, still miss it! White was slight pearlised effect, if I remember.

here is a pic I took when I first got it. It looks nothing like this now...new pics coming soon!

I love the forks on this.

Just finished!...its about 99% done (still need a proper elastomer) and I'm looking for a different rigid fork for this to paint (anybody want this old Tange?). Gravity is the brand of my longboards, but it looks fine for now. ;D

That is looking really nice. I like the color scheme.
I would take those forks if you are still offering. ;D

Anybody have any idea as to the value of this bike? I guess I could find out the 'market value' on ebay...just curious. I know its not stock, but its in nice shape.
