just want to give a heads up to anyone considering buying a risse racing shock. i bought one (genesis) back in i think october after several on here said they were top notch, had it on the bike maybe a week and noticed it leaking, sent it back and had another one, i think new because scratch was missing, i thought awesome, well a couple of rides and it started leaking again, this time not just at the seal but at the end where the bolt attatches it to frame, sent it back again, that is 40.00 now in shipping about 2 wks later shock came back, put it on went for a ride down street, immediately had oil on shaft and this continued until about mid march. i started trying to call to get service, have sent emails and do not get any response. if you call thier number you get the automated press 1 for service and no one is ever there, different days and times. at this point i just want my money back and am going back to noleen j6. pretty expensive lesson so you may want to take this into consideration before purchasing.

Bummer Darrell.
My experience was with 2 ea. genesis shocks for crosslink and vector. The crosslink shock had to go back 3 times until they discovered a blockage in the transfer port. Luckily I had sent my the vector shock with it since it felt too harsh also. Both were taken care of at no charge and are working very well now.
I know that they moved from California to Oregon, so that may be the delay in service. Personally I hope Kevin(?) works things out. Stratos has to me that this is his last year in business.

You may have been unlucky, i've had the astro 5 and the genesis shocks in the past and had no problems. In fact they have not leaked a drop of oil or lost any air after 3 yrs of good usage. I still have the astro 5 on the rear of the bike and love it.
On the other hand i may be lucky! how can you tell? I haven't heard many horror stories regarding risse, however i haven't had to use their customer services so i'm ignorant on that front. I hope things improve for you whatever shock you use because its sh***y when you can't ride!

If the item was faulty as supplied, (as it appears to be) then I think it is only reasonable that the supplier refunds you for the return shipping.
After all it's not your choice to return it, is it?
Either that or reject it as "unfit for purpose" and demand a full refund.
If I was you, I'd write to them in a perfectly reasonable manner, outlining the history and problems and demand that they resolve the problem once and for all or give you a full refund including your shipping costs. (Send the letter recorded so that you know they received it.)

yep,
certified letter is next plan of action since they wont reply to email or answer phones, and yes s** very bad not to be able to ride, weather here in galveston county has been low 70's and sunny for 2 weeks now! i'll let you know how it goes.

I'm interested in the results of this too because I've sent hundreds of customers to Risse. If the quality isn't going to be good then alternative options have to be found.

Wow, I'm so glad someone posted this...because I'm having a hell of time just getting in touch with someone at Risse to deal with my Astro 5 issue. I've called multiple times, emailed, etc. and they don't even have the courtesy to return my calls. I don't want to just send something to an unresponsive address and possibly lose a $299 shock, but mine definitely has an issue - it lets out this shriek everytime its compressed, and has ever since it was first installed. ended up reinstalling my stock Noleens :-/

wasn't there a guy called Josh at Risse at one point who seemed quite good on the customer service front?
-
Yes, Josh was the guy that sorted out my shocks a couple of summers ago. I think Kevin(?) Risse is someone I caught once or twice. Now moving to Oregon was a shocker. :'(
New address.
