Title: Help with OZ frame build-up
Post by: Willie_B on January 07, 2009, 09:50:50 am
I just got an OZ frame off ebay. I have a 856 to use as a guide, but I would like some input on the size of various parts needed for this frame. Such as the bottom bracket, front derailuer, etc. I cannot justify new parts at the moment so any ideas on some good quality used parts that I may want to be on the look out for, and ones to avoid also. I was unable to get the carbon fork so I will be looking for something there too. Thanks for the help, Brad.

It might be worth it to put a quality headset on it.  I have FSA Orbit XL II headsets on my Oz, 5000, 756, KHS, and already have a new one for my EVO.  They often go for less than $40-50 on ebay.  Sometimes in the $30 range.  They use cartridge bearings and are as good as Chris King headsets in my opinion.

Here is one for $32 + $4 for shipping=$36

I agree. I seem to have destroyed the cane creek headset in my Oz. I did the same on my 957, and elongated the lower area on the headtube until it was loose. The fix was an FSA orbit extreme Deep Cup, which I will do on all my bikes from here on.

My Oz is getting an Acros deep cup headset as soon as I gather some time to attack that chore. ::)
