I have a practically new (used to be a "wifes bike" almost no scratches) 856 with a Risse rear that I just slapped on a 120mm MX Pro LO on. I LIKE TOO MUCH TRAVEL on my front end. I am concerned about the stress on the head tube though. It will cost me 65 bucks to have the travel reduced at the LBS. I can probably do it myself (I became very intimate with the Pure system on my Psylo prior to the Marzocchi), but tech manuals on recent zoke shocks are hard to come by.
Truth be told, I would rather just ride it as it is.
For a 37 year old 200 lb rider in Florida who refuses to go airborne, is this too much stress on the 856 headtube?
No lectures on travel slacking please ( the palmetto roots down here are close to 8" diameters!)

its your bike....ride it!If you aint doing big hits i dont see you will have a problem.I guess a long travel fork will apply more leverage to the head tube,but as above if you dont take things to extreme i dont see a problem

Sadly, the service manual is the one I need :-\ (sorry for the misquote). Any Euro insight into Marzocchi insides? I can find the old MX manual (2006), but am reluctant to take it apart until I can feel confident that the preload air and lock out cartriges are similar in disassembly.

erm, yeah - I know the head tech guy at marzocchi uk if that's any help.
personally, I would just run the work with the long travel. unless you are hitting huge jumps the frame should be OK.
