Picked up a 96 beast frame with a girvin ods and spring. The spring has 450 on it,there is no movement at the rear of the bike with this spring on.I'm 13 stone,is the spring too stiff for me?What do you recommend, shock works ok with spring removed and damping is present.

EAT and be merry over Christmas and then try again. ;D. Or look out for a lighter spring.

Yikes, that's the spring to use on an evo or Oz.
300 lbs would be more like it.

Yep, 450 is wayyyy too big for you on a strut bike!
I weigh 90Kg / 14St and I use a 350lb spring which is towards the stiffer end for my weight, but is perfect for on road, I'd probably drop to a 300 for off road use, so I think you definately don't want to go over 300.

yeah - its the wrong spring. Should be around 300 to 340 ish for that frame.
