Just wondering the shock I2I lengths on a Way Big K2 4000. Don't have my bike handy to measure. Thanks!

That would be 8.25" i2i.

For the front too? I thought the front shock was 9" or more because of the extension on the bottom to accommodate the Way Big Crosslink?

Just wondering...

[/quote]Front may be different, but I thought the upper link mount on a waybig or large crosslink allowed the standard i2i. Do you have the stock shock?

Interesting. Do you think Risse does a genesis in that length?

Well, we will see. They do one for the Animal V-frame, though, which has a similar shock (main shock body with an extension tacked to the bottom). I'm hoping they can do something similar for me. No response from them yet, though. :-/

(just noticed that the shock in the picture is the Astro-5, though).

Hi Colin (and all),

Received the answer from Risse...good news and good news! They stock both the standard length and the longer size for the Way Big (not mentioned in the email below but in his PayPal invoice), and there's a $50 discount when you order both a front and rear damper as a set. Just PayPal'd the cash. Man, this really has to be the last I spend on this bike :-o

Doug,

Thanks for your e-mail.  We offer front and rear replacement air shocks for the K2 4000 bikes.

For the front Cross Link fork, the Genesis damper is available.  The part number is 50343, suggested retail $198.00.

For the rear suspension, we offer The Genesis damper, The Astro-5 damper, and The Terminator Damper.  The Genesis Damper is an air shock with oil damping.  The damping is set internally when the shock is assembled, but the air pressure can be adjusted externally.  The Genesis retails for $198.00 p/n 50358.  The Astro-5 is an air shock with a five position external adjustment lever.  The lever goes from a soft setting to a stiff setting for climbing, and eliminating pedal induced bobbing.  The Astro-5 retails for $298.00 p/n 50358-5.  The Terminator is an air shock with two damping adjustment knobs.  The compression and rebound adjusting knobs each have six positions.  The Terminator retails for $350.00 p/n 50358-T.

If you order a Genesis front shock ($198.00), and an Astro-5 rear shock ($298.00), + Shipping ($10.00), the total would be $506.00.  We do give a $50.00 discount if you order the front and rear shock at the same time, so the total would be $456.00.

Please visit our web site for info on the replacement air shocks.

You can order the shocks directly from us.  We accept PayPal, Mastercard, and Visa for payment.  Lead time is 1-2 days for orders.

Let me know if you have any other questions,

Kevin

$50 discount?

SWEET!

One nice thing is that if you are not happy with the damping, you can return it as many times as you want until satisfied. Turns out my genesis damper had an undersized transfer port. I kept on them until Josh found it. Three times I sent it in and they did not flinch.

Yeah, I was really surprised when he mentioned it. Am wondering if it has anything to do with keeping their sales up in a down economy. Either way it works for me...thinking about how specialty parts for these bikes seem to be dropping from production here and there (thinking about Callum's past words that he was thinking his previous batch of COR springs would be the last...until he ordered another batch ;-) I thought it wise to pick up the dampers while they're still available (though I'm sure Risse will keep them in production).

Looks like they'll ship on the 20th...can't wait to see 'em, and am wondering the weight comparison vs. the stock Noleen coil-overs with steel springs.

I'm off for another weekend ride on the C&O Canal with the K2...the full 180 miles this time...have great weekends, all! :-)

The genesis is way lighter.

Just back from a 195 trip along the C&O Canal...man, 95 miles on the K2 on Saturday was rough :-o

One response from Risse arrives after I had already places my order. Kevin, their CS rep, provided info and a picture of their Genesis shock for the Way Big Crosslink:

"Yes, we do offer the longer model for the Way Big version of the cross link fork.  Attached is a picture of this version.  As you can see, the eyelet on the left side (top fork mount) is extra long to give the correct over all length of 246mm."
