I just tried to fit the front ODS to my vectors and realised I have no top fixing. How does it fix and what do I need? Is it a smaller version of the rear ODS,ie a spindle running in a bush? If so I need to locate these parts. Anyone know if they are availiable.?

The ODS isn't affixed with the two sliding bushings shown on the far left and right. There is a tubular bushing, I think similar to that on the rear, that slides through the ODS's eye. On either side of that go the black plastic end caps similar to those on the rear.
Hope this helps!

Ah yes sorry Doug my photo is a bit miss leading. Yes I know the two side sliding bushes are to attach the top wish bone and the ODS attaches via a bolt hole infront of it. But you have confirmed I am missing the bushing, bolt, spindle and plastic spacers. Does any one have a sprare??
Thanks for the reply Doug.

i think the top mounts of the top of the old "shock" will do the ods too chris.

Hi Paul, na Ive tried that and the old shocks fixing is a bigger diameter. I suppose I could try and get it turned down :-\
-
i am surprised,i thought they would be similar...

The difference is about 3mm. Old shock about 13mm dia and ODS about 10mm dia. (about = pocket tape measure).
I might try RDS, May be Callum has something laying around?

Are you talking Vector-1s with the built in stem & friction shock? I upgraded mine to ODS&coil with a home-made spacer / bolt arrangement... http://idriders.com/proflex/smf/index.php?topic=2527.0
Never got round to taking any pics but I really must get round to selling the forks on as I've not used them in ages (I went from them to X-links, to bombers, to sids!).

vector AL ex 756.The 756 had a 855 type friction shock front and back...heretic! ;D

I've had a look at an ODS I have that's off the bike, there's a bush or 'spacer tube' pressed into the ODS ( this is missing from yours ) it'slighly wider with a seal on each end and it has an M6 bolt running through it to attach it to the link assy, items 21 and 24 on the Girvin V2 diagram.

I have an image of each type of shock insitu but it's difficult to determine if there is any differance in the upper link assy or mount or if it's just bushed out on one.
Maybee you need spacers for the schock and the link assy.

My Vectors came to me with an 854 so I assume that was their original home.
If I could get a disc brake on the X-links, I'd have them back on the bike tomorrow!

Its the Vector 2 type fork I have as Kiwi said with the ulm top fixing. When I get time ill have a go at making something up. Making the tube spacer wont be a prob but my ODS doesnt have the thin bush or sleave which the tube spacer slides in,so that could be the problem. I have bearing stockist near by so ill see if they have anything suitable. For the time being ive fitted the original friction shock with new elastomers from RDS. The shock is slolid and with me weighing 150lb-ish im not sure ill get it to move. But ill sure give it a try!
