Title: 1997 Proflex 957 Pro Carbon
Post by: ceejay on June 12, 2003, 06:33:18 am
I bought this bike awhile ago and would like to upgrade the headset to a Chris King threadless.  It has a Tange headset now and also has the Girvin Crosslink Pro Carbon front fork.  I was wondering if anyone can help me as to the size of the headset and whether or not a King unit will work.  Also, I have never changed a headset and would like to know what is involved.  Any info would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks!!

I don't have direct experience with the 1997 model, but my bike came with the '98 Crosslink.  The K2 website has a manual that is listed as being for the 1997 & 1998.  Here is the link. http://k2bikes.com/tech_library/pdfs/98crosslink_manual.pdf  It is an Adobe Acrobat .pdf file so you can print it.

The 1998 Crosslink interfaced to a standard 1 1/8 inch headset. [smiley=nod.gif]

Also, under "How Tos" at the left, you can find exploded views of the whole bike and the fork.
