Thanks Kiwi, the Vectors arrived yesterday with no probs. I now have two ends to my 856 and can really see why people rave over their looks. It sure is a sweet looking ride! (for others, by 'long travel' I mean from NZ to Wales!)
Thanks again.

Funny you should say that, but...................
I'm just finishing totally overhauling my XP-X (856) after it has sat in the garage for a year unused and I did the complete overhaul on the Vectors, replacing the black seals with the more modern translucent "extreme" seals (Kit RK005), but anyway..........
.......Whilst I was doing this I was cursing the multi piece lower linkage design and wishing I had a "unified lower link" (Kit GFULK?) that they did for the Vector's (but have never seen............) and then I remembered the spare parts I have from a Crosslink where the legs got totalled by an unobservant car driver ("SMIDSY" - Sorry Mate I Didn't See You!) So my brain has been working along the lines of replacing both the upper and lower links with the one's from a X-Link, I reckon that would give me a "Long Travel Vector" ( I got there in the end didn't I....?)
I might never get A Round TUIT, but it's an interesting thought isn't it?

not sure but i would think a early crosslink would be a good donor...Chris you must polish up those legsand take some photos for us...Sorry about all the poly but i was determined they were not going to get damaged!
-
Yes thanks for that. NZ must have a shortage of polystyrene now as its all over my floor! ;) Oh how she laughed as the vacuum cleaner came out for the third time. ;D Will try and get some photos sorted soon.
Colin have you got any seal kits for the vector left? And if that front ods shock is still available Ill have that too.
-
Sorry, completely out of the Vector and Crosslink kits now.
Just some World Cup (x56) pivot and 4000/Oz Pivot kits left.
On the plus side, I reckon the X-Link seals kit you bought will fit as they seem identical. In fact, I was half way through doing the seal job on my Vector's before I realised I had inadvertently picked up and used the X-Link kit! I only realised when I thought "what's this funny little grub screw for?", started again with the correct kit and it all seemed to fit the same.
If you and others in the UK/Europe want me to start an order list for kits, I'll try to import some more from Iron Horse?
Yep, still got the ODS, cheque details as before if you still have them? If not email/PM me.

yep crosslink and vector saml parts are the same(seals and bearings)The so called extreme seals were crosslink seals(or visa versa)
-
Excellent,im ok then then.
-
Chris your vectors already have the "extreme seals" although you will notice some are pretty worn compared to the others.I think the worn ones came out of the bottom axle

No problem,cheers Paul
