Title: Hello
Post by: mightyDOB on February 28, 2008, 04:34:57 pm
Just wanted to say hello as finally bringing my Proflex Evo up to date after inheriting it a few years back but not having the time or money to do it justice.  Its had my old old old XT chainset on it (at least 10 years old) and has been used only on the road since, but thanks to the cycle scheme my work is running I am getting some nice bits for it at a good price:

XT 08 chainset - excited about the shadow mech I have just ordered :)
Deore Discs
Hope Pro2 Wheelset
Already has fox float rear shock and RB Sids

looking forward to finally getting back into my biking, on what should be, and to hopefully try and be an active member of this site which my uncle raved about so much :0

will sort out pics as soon as I can :)

My uncle was ProflexGB, have fallen out of touch with him since he moved to Greece :(  and can see he has not posted on here for a while.  I know he knew and went riding with Simon

Welcome MightyDOB.

Your Evo is certainly worth keeping up to date(IMHO). I use mine mostly for camping every 2 months or so, and am still amazed how well it performs even with all the second hand parts. At 30 lbs or so it can still get up and go.

yep totally agree, when I have riden it off road it handles like a dream much better than my previous heavy LTS.  Only ride it on the roads at the mo which is a bit of a shame, which is why I am determined to get some new shiny bits on it and throw it down some hills and supose I will have to deal with the up hill bits too :(  Think it is a K2 5000 although I can't be sure as it has be sprayed, I must admit it all gets a bit confusing trying to work out which frame it is :)

Goning to keep a look out for a waybig EVo frame as I think the large is a bit small for me but not too bad, will post pics when sorted

5000 will have had a carbon swingarm I think,so it may be a 4000...

Both the 4000 and 5000 had carbon swingarms but I think the 5000 had carbon cross links as standard.
