Title: Newbie Question
Post by: Spokes on January 23, 2008, 02:56:06 pm
First of all hello to everyone. Have been a 'guest' for some time -great forum. Can anyone tell me if a set of cross links will fit a 856. I have a chance of a 856 with no forks but have a spare set of K2 4000 crosslinks which I could fit untill I find a set of vector 2. Thanks
Have just noticed the XP-8 build so I guess the answer is yes :)

yes will go on very easily..you need to install the crosslink with a critical measurement of 165(from memory) ie that is the height between the bottom race and the underside of the upper link mount. If you look in the "how to" link there is probably a crosslink manual.the noleen crosslink has a slightly larger critical measurement to the girvin crosslink.I have a spare girvin vector of a 756 but it only has the original friction/elastomer  shock

Crosslinks will fit as long as the fork head tube length is correct for the size frame they are going on.
Crosslinks come in 2 sizes, Standard for frame head tube lengths 90-125mm
Long for frame head tube lengths 126-160mm
More often than not most Crosslinks are Standard.
If you click on the How to icon on the left side menu then scroll down to '98 Crosslink manual, everything you need to know is there.
Hope this helps,
Mr752

how much do you UK guys reckon these are worth....
they are off a 756,so they are very similar to a 856 fork but with a "frcition shock",but have the ULM on the steerer ..hope i can attach some pics

the last view is my favourite, they polish up very nicely!

Vectors on Ebay in the UK generally fetch £50-£80.
