Title: Just joined the club.
Post by: jaseh on June 25, 2007, 12:35:57 am
Hey guys,
Just joined the proflex/K2 club today. Picked up a 98 3000 frame.
I would like to build it up with as many original parts as possible, so if anyone can hep me out with what parts went on this frame it would be greatly appreciated.
Here the beautiful lady

You should have bought the 855 front triangle and the animal frame just to hang on the shop wall, you know that don't you??

Ahh, this just means I have to get mine up to speed again.

There both still there. The rep forgot to pick them up. I might as well grab them, you never know when you might need a spare front triangle.

All the Animal needs is the shock/seatstay assembly, so it shouldn't be too hard to get going.

Don't be in too much of a rush to get yours going, this might be a slow one

Ummm... you should just sell the frame to me.
Nice purchase.
I would skip the "original" approach and make a seriously light and fast XC/Trail bike out of it with disk brakes and the works.

Nice!!!  A WayBig shiny bike.

That would make a nice bike either way, but finding a tall carbon x-link would be tough in your neck of the woods. Even a Noleen Mega-Air with an uncut steerer is hard to find.

So per Willem's take, I would mount a Reba World cup 100mm fork, Kcnc bearbones crankset with Phil Wood Ti square taper BB. Then Extralite wheelset, stem, and seatpost. XTR shifters and Hope disk brakes.

Or maybe not.:-)

Square taper? Really.  I think My Race Face Ti ISIS BB would be a better way to go.  But even better yet one of the new BB cup systems are sickly stiff.

Thanks guys, I have sort of given up on the original route now. After a bit of searching around and chatting to Sammydog, it's probably going to take a while to get it there. I have a heap of parts lying around in my shop so I should be able to build it into a ridable state. I will post pics of the build as it comes along. It won't be anything special, but it will be another Proflex out on the trails.
The guy I got this off is going to see what else he has lying around. If I find anything of interest I will let you all know.

I'm still holding my breath that he finds a shock for me. But that animal would have been awesome if it weren't a small size.

Can't wait to see the build though jase.

I can still get the animal, I asked him to find the shock and seatstays.
I will let you know when I find out.
