Title: Vector 2 stem - different rise angles query
Post by: red855 on March 26, 2007, 11:46:43 pm
I have the Vector 2 forks (with Risse Genesis) on my 855 along with the integrated stem and found out a while ago that these originally came in different rise angles.

Does anyone know more about this or if they can still be sourced anywhere, I was thinking about trying a higher rise stem on my bike if I could find one.

I don't think the rise angle is on the stem so I guess you estimate with a protractor or suchlike to see what the standard fit was?  The bike has the 18 inch frame.

Can anyone shed any light on this for me?

Cheers
Sean

Hmmm, I have a Carbon Vector with a Risse shock on it. In all, it works pretty decent for 2 inches of travel.

But it does not have the stem mount, it has the clamp mount. Maybe  you can source a clamp mount from a later Vector or crosslink, thus giving you the option of any type of stem.

Red how do you find the risse on the front. I am considering as I like the risse on the back. Did you have any set up issues?

It has been fine, I just bolted it on and forgot about it, all seems to work ok.  It came from CVI and was set up for my weight and I just pumped it up.  Not much more to say about it.

If you've got Risse on the back I'm sure you'd be happy.  It was the best value upgrade I could find when the elastomers went solid.

Stem mount, now that's a better idea, does anyone know how/if the later mounts can be retro fitted to Vector 2's?

A "clamp Mount" is known as an "Upper Link Mount"
part item 23 , number 14813 on the Vector Assembly diagram "vector2_assy.pdf"
http://www.k2bike.com/tech_library/pdfs/vector2_assy.pdf

I've got a "steerer clamp" mount (ULM) on my XP-X with Vector II's, so I'm sure they're compatible.

Swapping to a ULM allows you the freedom to choose any stem but , the only issue is whether you have enough steerer showing to fit an ULM and a Stem.

I think the benefit of a stem Link is that you can achieve an overall lower handlebar height and total weight, than with an ULM plus stem.

Thanks, I had seen your one, I need to compare the picture to my actual stem to see if it's different. If it is I may be interested.
