 i guess thats what they mean by " owning the road "

i bet they piss some of those drivers off

We have something similar here.  They're called Alley Cat Races.  Various themes - scavenger hunt, costumes, messenger bragging rights, roadie vs mtbr bragging rights, etc.

I've yet to do one or see one yet.  The races are held in Honolulu.  I live on the outskirts plus they're scheduled on days I'm working.  

The messengers have the edge on these type of races since they are use to going the wrong way, between cars, riding on the center line and evading cops.

Though a little stupid these races are about fun and the winner usually donates his winnings to the beer fund after the race.

Thanks for that post!... I can't believe the cameraman got by that bus!  The guy hanging onto the car reminds me of grade school.  Thanks again!
